There was a time when I felt like drugstore products just didn’t cut it. From the quality of the products to the packaging, there were a lot of disconnects, which usually left me running for Sephora or department stores like Nordstrom. Fast forward to these last few years and affordable beauty products that deliver promising results have sprouted up everywhere. I’m excited to finally say that drugstore brands are changing the landscape of beauty, so I wanted to share some of my tried-and-true affordable beauty products you can try too!
Although I can’t wait to see what comes into the spotlight this year, I’m happy with this batch here:
Burt’s Bees Micellar Cleansing Towelettes – Makeup wipes are perfect for those late nights when you’re almost too tired to wash your face. As a fan of micellar waters, I just knew I would love these ..

Despite feeling OVER the cold weather now, it hasn’t stopped the snow from coming down. And that only means more days to go of cozy layered looks. If you’re in need of fresh style advice that takes you beyond a puffer coat, my latest Instagram outfits should provide that dash of inspiration. Having spent a good portion of my life in the arctic cold of New York, I’ve developed a knack for layering in both traditional and unconventional ways. And I’ve learned that the most important thing to nailing an interesting winter outfit is to be bold, daring, and reckless.
A roundup of my cozy layered looks below will show you just what I mean. So, let’s take a closer look at my layered outfits and break them down.

Last week, I shared my top photography tips for new bloggers and asked what you guys wanted to see next. The consensus was my camera gear! I’ve got the impression that many people new to photography and blogging seem to think that you need expensive equipment and pro-level gear to take stunning photos. My husband, Dan, surely knows otherwise. He’s given me the low down on what he uses and what he recommends for bloggers. So, together we present to you today an ultimate camera guide for bloggers!
We want to preface by stressing that you can take great photos with any camera – especially one that allows you to shoot in manual mode and RAW. The most important thing is that you learn how to use your gear. Often times, you’ll learn that it’s the model behind the..
Happy Monday everyone! Warm and comfy wrapped in a teddy coat today.
I’ve been hunting for a great teddy coat for weeks now, and was so happy when I came across this Storets one. The charm of a teddy coat is literally in its name. Teddy. It’s like hugging a teddy bear. Surprisingly, the oversized silhouette is very versatile. Perfect with dresses and over the knee boots to skinny jeans and sneakers, teddy coats are great for running errands, grabbing coffee, day dates, date nights, and every moment in between. It’s basically an adult robe. For the outdoors.

A little red on red action today. With such a strong statement piece, I wanted to continue the color story by finishing the look with red over-the-knee boots. Keeping the rest of the look streamlined, I anchored the red..
Happy Wednesday everyone!
One of the many charms of fall/winter is the outerwear. Beautiful coats, classic pea-coats, colored coats… a standout piece that adds cheer to cold winter days. For today’s post, I’m sharing two winter coats – a ruffle sleeve long coat and a classic black peacoat – that are fun and truly timeless.
:: Winter Coats under $150 ::This long coat has the essence of downtown cool mixed with soft feminine flare. I absolutely love the ruffle details! It’s beautiful without being overwhelming and it’s subtle yet impactful. Pairing ruffles with ruffles, I coupled the ruffle coat with a ruffle neckline sweater. And that pop of emerald green against the navy colors brings brightness to winter blues.
Below is a true classic (and this peacoat is under $40!). With over 1.3K reviews, this peacoat lands at over 4 stars. My favorite part is the high funnel neck. It gives the classic double-breasted peacoat shape a modern twist. It’s extremely versatile and can be dressed up wit..

We’re only about mid-way through winter, but everything in my wardrobe is starting to feel old. Though cold weather accessories are nothing new to a winter-proof wardrobe, they continue to be the icing on the cake every time I start to get bored. From gloves to beanies, I find no better way to keep warm and bundled. However, my number one winter accessory of choice is the scarf. I’ve rounded up my top fives types of scarves this winter that will take all your looks to the next level.
Whether wrapped around your neck or draped across the shoulders, you’ll look a ton more stylish. Here are the give types of scarves you need in your closet.

The ultimate way to give your cold-weather looks a boost is with chic colorful coats! I’m no stranger when it comes to using this tactic. In fact, I think I wear far more color than the average person. I have my fair share of neutrals too, but a bright statement coat always packs the perfect punch. I’ve put together a list of some happy colors you should try before the season ends. It’s a great day to stock up since several mid-season sales are in session right now.
Read on to get all the chic colorful coats your wardrobe could appreciate!
Orange is a color you have to be prepared to go all out on. It’s bold, surprising, and fresh! To avoid looking like an obvious Halloween combo, pick an orange with a rusty undertone like this one here. When paired with black leather accessories, you’ll be killin..
Happy Wednesday everyone! Back in NYC and freezing! I’m smiling in this photo, but behind those sunglasses are tears. It gets so cold that I start tearing up. But thank goodness for sunglasses! Fashionable and functional as winter tear shields!
I love a great coat, and especially, tailored coats. But since moving to New York, I learned to embrace and really adore oversized coats. One, they’re much easier to layer chunky thick sweaters under, and two, they feel super cozy. I’ve been wearing this Mango coat (currently 35% off) non-stop. I’m actually wearing three layers (a thermal, a oversized sweater, and a long coat) on top and two layers on the bottom (wool leggings under jeans), and it doesn’t feel restrictive in any way. The coat really helps anchor the feel of this outfit… cozy, comfy, and winter ready! And not to mention, it’s such a happy color!
Just in case you’re looking for more winter coat options, here’s a blog post featuring two ways to wear a peacoat (the peacoat is under..
So the truth is… some days it’s a winter wonderland filled with smiles and coffee, and other days like this one, it’s absolutely miserable. No amount of smiles can hide the fact that I can’t feel my face. Am I even smiling or is my face frozen? It’s so cold that even the camera is breathing hard.
I have four layers on top – a thermal, a shirt, a wool jacket, and a scarf – let’s just count the scarf too, and three layers on the bottom – wool tights, skinny jeans, socks, and thigh high boots – we’ll do the same for the boots. And I’m still freezing. I know I need gloves, but can’t seem to find gloves small enough to fit my hands. If you know of any brands that make kid-size leather gloves for a small adult, please let me know!
After shooting this outfit, Colin and I made the mistake of going to an outdoor winter market. Outdoors! As we ran from stall to stall (not really caring what they’re selling at this point) to find warmth, we ended up doing the winter cold dance which is like a pee..
Happy Monday everyone! Snow days are the best days. First, it’s actually quite manageable most of the time. It’s cold but not freezing cold. Second, it’s very quiet. While most people don’t want to be caught in the middle of a snow downpour – because they’re sane – we run to catch the storm. Which leads to the third point, it’s truly a winter wonderland (and it does well on Instagram ;). Being a west coast girl all my life, I’m smiling because I really do love this. I love snow days and I love NYC.
Sharing one of my favorite ways to embrace winter layering today. Combining patterns and adding a dash of brightness, I mixed plaid with stripes today and anchored the look with pops of red. I have four layers on top (a thermal, a turtleneck, a ruffle striped top, and a plaid coat) and two layers on the bottom (wool tights and black jeans), and even with all of these layers, I don’t feel uncomfortable or bulky. And I love wearing red in the wintertime. This bag and these boots have made it ..
